Mr. Melvin Stuart Ferdinands

Mel Ferdinands is one half of the popular duo Mel and Joe Ferdinands, two brothers from Singapore. First appearing on National Television in 1971 at the tender ages of 12 and 9, the brothers quickly became favourites on the local entertainment scene with numerous Television and Radio appearances. During the 80s , Mel was also part of one of Singapore’s Top bands GYPSY, performing in top venues in Singapore and also performing for local dignitaries. Mel later formed Broadsword in 1989.

Mel released his solo album Lonely Angel under the Pony Canyon Label in 1993.

Mel and Joe celebrated their 40th Anniversary with a concert in 2010. They also published their autobiography I Play & Sing which was launched in 2011.

Mel and Joe received the Artistic Excellence Award from the Composers and Authors Society of Singapore in 2012.

Mel is currently the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Composers and Authors Society of Singapore.
