MUSIC SOCIETEA (2018 in review)
|
Music SocieTEA was conceptualized to be a series of short,
sharing sessions with insights by professionals in the music industry.
These sessions were targeted at three sessions each year and would take
place each quarter in the COMPASS office, with opportunities for interested
songwriters to meet with the speakers and have a little networking session
thereafter.
COMPASS had the pleasure of collaborating with the Chairman of
Musicians Guild, George Leong in October 2018 to share his thoughts on
music production and arrangement. ∞
Highlights of the sessions in 2018 can be found on our YouTube Channel:
- David Tao (6th
June 2018)
- Syaheed MSBI (13th
August 2018)
- George Leong (31st

YELLOW RIBBON SONGWRITING
COMPETITION 2019
|
The Yellow Ribbon Songwriting
Competition 2019 continues its sixth year as COMPASS leads the initiative
by bringing both music trainer and mentors into Changi Prison to audition,
impart basic knowledge on songwriting, mentor and produce the songs. This
results in a finale of 12 finalists in which 3 songs will be recognized and
awarded. The winning songs may end up being selected to be produced into
music videos by Yellow Ribbon for their outreach purposes. Each year, the
program garners more interests as the program encourages rehabilitation,
acceptance by families and the community.
The theme for this year’s competition – Stronger Together –
directs participants to create songs honouring
the people and love which strengthen them and their resolve to be
rehabilitated.
This project’s success greatly hinged on the constant support
from trainer and mentors such as Zeeaura, Jack and Rai, Don Richmond,
Nicodemus Lee and Azmi Hassan, who feel passionately about the project and
support COMPASS unconditionally by working with the men and women clusters
within Changi Prison each week, over the course of about 3 months. ∞

rotation in the stations.
For jingles, overseas radio and songs played during live radio interviews, do continue to keep us notified.
You can download the notification forms from our website http://www.compass.org.sg/music-creators/work-registration-performance-notification/
